RE:DISCOVERlive performance
WINTER 2023

A LITTLE SPACE (film) by Mind the Gap (UK)

THE SHOW

A Little Space (2018-current) is a powerful piece of physical theatre made in collaboration with
acclaimed physical theatre company Gecko. Devised and performed by five artists with learning
disabilities and autism, the show draws on the performers’ own experiences and uses
movement, imagery, sound and lighting to portray the characters’ needs, desires and fears.

An award-winning film version of the show was commissioned by The Space and has appeared in international film festivals. The two theatre companies worked with award-winning Newcastle-based Meerkat Films to bring the piece to the screen and promise that audiences can expect ‘a mashup of theatre and film’.

It’s definitely not like a Hollywood movie on location – it’s all in one place so exists very
theatrically but with a cinematic edge.
